Vicki Weiner

Adjunct Associate Professor, School of Architecture
Vicki Weiner has spent nearly three decades exploring heritage preservation as a strategy for community empowerment and sustainability. Currently serving as Academic Director of the Historic Preservation Master’s degree program and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the School of Architecture at Pratt Institute, she has taught courses in historic preservation theory and law, research methods, policy analysis, and community preservation planning. Her professional experience includes serving as director of two non-profit preservation organizations in NYC, as Kress Fellow for Historic Preservation at the Municipal Art Society of New York, and as a historic preservation policy consultant. During a 15-year affiliation with Pratt Center for Community Development she designed projects that explored the preservation of culturally important places to create more equitable communities, managed community planning research and technical assistance, and spent eight years as the organization’s Deputy Director. She has authored or co-authored numerous research reports and briefing papers on preserving community culture in underserved neighborhoods. Recent publications include articles in Preservation, Equity and Sustainability (2022) and Preservation and Social Inclusion (2020), both from Columbia Books on Architecture and the City. Vicki has a Master of Science degree in Historic Preservation from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Art degree in Theater Arts from Drew University.
